Adgestone Vineyard

Adgestone Vineyard holds the remarkable distinction of being the UK's oldest continuously operating commercial vineyard, a heritage site that offers visitors the chance to experience English wine production in its most authentic form. Located on the Isle of Wight, this unique estate has been making wine for generations, long before the current English wine renaissance began.

The vineyard philosophy is captured in their motto: 'Made with love... not machinery!' This artisanal approach produces wines with genuine character, from traditional English wines to their famous Something Blue, the UK's only blue sparkling wine, a striking and unique offering that has become a signature product.

Visitors to Adgestone enjoy the complete 'Grape to Glass' experience. Audio-guided tours lead guests through the vines and subterranean cellars, revealing the winemaking process and the estate's long history. These self-guided tours are followed by fun and informative personal wine tasting lessons that introduce the range of English wines, country wines, and liqueurs produced on site.

The 10-acre vineyard provides a secluded setting with sea views, perfect for enjoying a bottle or glass of English wine on a summer afternoon. The farm shop stocks not only the estate's own products but also locally produced goods from across the Isle of Wight, including the Arson Fire sauce and clothing range for those who like a bit of heat.

Beyond wine, Adgestone produces country wines using fruits, flowers, and fresh root ginger collected from the vineyard each spring.
