About Bolney Wine Estate
Bolney Wine Estate stands as one of England's pioneering vineyards, founded in 1972 by visionary British wine enthusiasts Janet and Rodney Pratt. Nestled in the rolling countryside of West Sussex near Haywards Heath, the estate has grown over five decades into one of England's most beautiful and accomplished wine destinations.
The Pratts carefully selected grape varieties suited to the cool South Downs climate and the well-draining sandstone soils of their Sussex location. This expertise has been passed down through generations, with the family continuing to produce exceptional still and sparkling wines that have earned numerous awards and accolades. From the renowned Pinot Noir and elegant Pinot Gris to the celebratory Bolney Bubbly and refined Blanc de Blancs, each wine reflects the character of this special terroir.
Visitors to Bolney enjoy a complete wine country experience. The Eighteen Acre Restaurant offers seasonal dishes crafted from local ingredients and paired with estate wines, all with stunning vineyard views. The Café and Wine Bar provides a relaxed setting for coffee, light lunches, homemade cakes or a glass of wine. The vineyard shop stocks the full range of Bolney wines alongside locally sourced gifts, hampers and deli items.
Guided tours take visitors through the vineyards and winery, followed by tutored tastings of still and sparkling wines. The estate hosts a calendar of events throughout the year, from supper clubs and tasting evenings to harvest experiences and festive celebrations. Located just 10 minutes from Haywards Heath and 20 minutes from Brighton, Bolney Wine Estate offers an accessible and memorable introduction to English wine.
