About Dunleavy Vineyards

Dunleavy Vineyards brings passionate, sustainable viticulture to the beautiful Wrington Vale in Somerset, just outside Bristol. Founded and managed by Ingrid Bates, whose background in biology and decade of viticultural experience inform every aspect of the operation, this young vineyard has quickly established a reputation for producing exceptional rosé wines.

Dunleavy Vineyards: Site and Grape Varieties

The vineyard's location in the heart of the Wrington Vale provides an idyllic setting for wine production. This area of outstanding natural beauty between the Mendip Hills and the Somerset Levels offers gentle slopes, favourable aspects, and the mild, maritime-influenced climate that characterises Somerset's growing conditions. These factors combine to create an excellent environment for the grape varieties Ingrid has chosen to cultivate.

Dunleavy focuses primarily on Pinot Noir and Seyval Blanc, a combination that allows production of their signature rosé wines. The Pinot Noir provides classic red fruit character and elegance, while Seyval Blanc contributes freshness and acidity. Future plans include sparkling rosé production, adding another dimension to the vineyard's portfolio as the vines mature and yields increase.

Sustainability lies at the heart of Dunleavy's philosophy. The latest viticultural techniques are combined with sustainable agricultural practices to produce fantastic wines while minimising environmental impact. This commitment to responsible farming reflects both Ingrid's scientific background and her genuine passion for the land she cultivates.

Visiting Dunleavy Vineyards

The vineyard offers tours and tastings by appointment, with the adjacent Somerset Flower Farm Garden Café providing refreshments and a beautiful setting to enjoy your visit. Visitors can purchase wines at cellar door prices while enjoying the peaceful Somerset countryside. As Dunleavy continues to grow and develop, it promises to become an important part of the West Country wine scene, proving that great rosé can be made in England's southwestern reaches.
