About Jenkyn Place
Jenkyn Place Vineyard produces elegant English sparkling wines from their estate in Hampshire, set within the grounds of a historic English garden near Bentley. The vineyard benefits from south-facing slopes and the chalk-rich soils that make Hampshire one of England's most exciting emerging wine regions.
The estate's winemaking journey began with a vision to produce sparkling wines that could stand alongside the finest from Champagne. Careful site selection identified slopes with excellent aspect and drainage, while detailed soil analysis confirmed the presence of chalk that would give the wines their characteristic minerality and freshness.
Plantings focus on Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier – the classic Champagne varieties that have proven so well-suited to Hampshire's terroir. The vineyard is managed with attention to detail, allowing the vines to produce grapes of optimal ripeness while retaining the acidity essential for fine sparkling wine.
Winemaking follows traditional method production, with each cuvée undergoing secondary fermentation in bottle and extended ageing on the lees. This patient approach, borrowed from the great houses of Champagne, develops complexity and depth while preserving the fresh, precise character that defines Jenkyn Place wines.
The boutique scale of production allows for meticulous quality control at every stage. Each release is limited, ensuring that every bottle meets the estate's exacting standards. The wines have earned recognition from critics and sommeliers, establishing Jenkyn Place among Hampshire's most accomplished sparkling wine producers.
Visitors are welcome by appointment to tour the vineyard, explore the historic gardens, and taste current releases. The experience captures the essence of English wine at its most refined.
