About St Hilary Vineyard

St Hilary Vineyard is a pioneering Welsh vineyard nestled in the heart of the glorious Vale of Glamorgan, just one mile from the historic market town of Cowbridge. Founded by Peter and Liz Loch, this one-hectare vineyard was planted in 2020 on premium farmland positioned between an apple orchard and a picturesque wildflower meadow.

The vineyard is operated on low intervention, organic principles with a commitment to regenerative viticulture techniques. Three classic grape varieties are cultivated here: Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier, the traditional Champagne grapes that thrive in the Vale's temperate maritime climate. There are also plans to add Seyval Blanc to the portfolio.

St Hilary brought in their first full harvest in October 2023, an exciting milestone that was celebrated with a hand-harvest involving friends and local volunteers under bright blue Welsh skies. Their debut wine, a 2023 vintage still Rosé made from Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier, has been well received and is almost sold out. The vineyard's sparkling white wine launched on St David's Day 2026.

The owners are committed to producing wines that are proudly grown in Wales and made in Wales, contributing to the growing reputation of Welsh wine on the national stage. Visitors can experience vineyard tours and tastings, learning about the winemaking journey while enjoying the natural beauty of this rural Welsh setting. The vineyard also produces non-alcoholic apple juices from their adjacent orchard, all presented under their distinctive new brand identity.
