About The Grange
The Grange is a boutique producer of award-winning English sparkling and still wines from grapes grown in vineyards just six miles east of Winchester. In 2011, on a south-facing slope of the Hampshire Downs overlooking the crystal-clear waters of the River Itchen, four siblings came together to plant the beginnings of a dream, to create the finest English sparkling wine on land beloved by the family for generations.
The Grange: Site and Grape Varieties
Over two hundred years after their forebear, Alexander, bought the Grange Estate, the family has united to produce wines from its soft, chalky landscape. The thirty-acre vineyard, known as Burges Field, features flinty south-facing slopes that encourage an ideal balance of acidity and sugar in the grapes. The chalky terrain imparts distinctive minerality to the wines.
In 2018, the first bottles of exquisite Grange sparkling wine were released, each one expressing the unique climate and terroir of the vineyard. The team brings together exceptional talent: Samuel Philippot as Vineyard Manager, originally from Montpellier with experience in organic Bordeaux cultivation, and Harry Pickering as Head Winemaker, whose fascination with fermentation began with sparkling elderflower in his garden shed.
The wines are crafted with meticulous attention to detail, benefiting from years of care and centuries of winemaking knowledge crystallised in the skills of their expert team. Longer lees-aged magnums transform their delicious wines into something truly spectacular, representing the very best of Hampshire's sparkling wine potential.
