About Woodchurch Wine Estate
Woodchurch Wine Estate is a family-run vineyard in Kent that has been producing exceptional English still and sparkling wines since Graham and Donna Barbour identified the perfect site in 2009. Situated on the edge of the picturesque village of Woodchurch in the Garden of England, the estate offers breathtaking views across the vines towards Romney Marsh and the English Channel beyond.
Woodchurch Wine Estate: Site and Grape Varieties
The first 10,000 vines were planted in 2010, establishing what would become one of Kent's finest boutique vineyards. The location, 20 metres above sea level with perfect south-facing aspect, provides ideal conditions for growing the classic champagne varieties. Today, over 12 acres of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier produce award-winning wines.
Woodchurch released their first vintage in 2015 and has since built a reputation for sparkling wines that can hold their own against the big-name estates. Every step of the vine growing and winemaking process is approached with meticulous attention to detail. The vines are managed by hand and treated with great care, resulting in fruit of the highest quality.
The wines are crafted in a state-of-the-art winery by one of the UK's leading winemakers, whose philosophy of minimal intervention and diligent approach results in superb wines that express the unique terroir. The vision remains focused on creating the world's finest sparkling wines.
