About Blackbook Winery

Blackbook Winery is an English wine producer operating as London's urban winery, based beneath the railway arches in Battersea, South London. This boutique producer focuses on Pinot Noir and Chardonnay varietals, crafting minimal intervention wines that showcase the potential of English grapes.

Blackbook Winery: Site and Grape Varieties

The winery is the project of Sergio and Lynsey Verrillo, who established Blackbook in 2017. Sergio's wine journey began as a sommelier at Maze under Laura Patry back in 2010, where his love for wine truly took off. This sommelier background informs their approach – wines are crafted with the same attention to detail and understanding of flavour that defines fine dining.

Blackbook operates as a true urban winery, sourcing grapes from English vineyards within easy reach of London. The focus on still wines – predominantly Pinot Noir and Chardonnay – sets them apart in an English wine scene dominated by sparkling production. Their minimal intervention philosophy allows the character of the fruit and terroir to shine through.

The winery offers winemaker-led tours and tastings in their unique Battersea location, providing an atmospheric setting to discover English wine production. There's something magical about tasting carefully crafted wines beneath Victorian railway arches, surrounded by fermenting vessels and oak barrels.

For Londoners and visitors alike, Blackbook offers an accessible entry point to English wine without leaving the capital, combining urban authenticity with serious winemaking credentials.
