About Burn Valley Vineyard
Burn Valley Vineyard stands as a shining example of how Norfolk's unique terroir can produce world-class English wines. Established in 2016 by the Robinson family, who are third-generation Norfolk farmers, this 12-acre vineyard in North Creake has quickly earned recognition for its award-winning wines that capture the essence of East Anglia.
Burn Valley Vineyard: Site and Grape Varieties
The vineyard benefits from exceptional growing conditions: south-facing slopes with free-draining, flinty soil and a chalk base, situated just four miles from the stunning North Norfolk Coast, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. This maritime influence, combined with long sunshine hours and relatively low rainfall typical of East Anglia, creates ideal conditions for growing premium wine grapes.
Burn Valley cultivates an impressive array of nine grape varieties, including the classic trio of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Bacchus, alongside Solaris, Rondo, Regent, Schonburger, and Seyval Blanc. Since their inaugural harvest in 2018, the vineyard has consistently produced wines that have earned multiple awards, testament to the quality of their fruit and the skill of Head Winemaker Mathew Abbey.
The vineyard operates sustainably, remaining glyphosate-free and using mechanical methods for weed control. This approach creates a haven for wildlife while producing grapes of exceptional quality. Visitors can enjoy the full experience with tours, tastings, and delicious food provided by Burn Valley Catering.
