About Dillions Vineyard

Dillions Vineyard represents the exciting next generation of English wine producers, established by David and Lisa Trott in one of Sussex's most beautiful locations. Their 25-acre estate in Staplefield sits within the High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, bordering the ancient and atmospheric Nymans Woods – a setting that combines natural splendour with genuine winemaking ambition.

Dillions Vineyard: Site and Grape Varieties

The first vines were planted in 2019, marking the beginning of a carefully planned journey towards producing distinctive Sussex wines. Working in partnership with Defined Wines in Kent and selected vineyards, Dillions has already released three wines: two Bacchus vintages (2019 and 2020) and a Rosé. These early releases have demonstrated the quality potential of the site, with plans underway for sparkling wine and red wine production as the vineyard matures.

The High Weald AONB provides an exceptional environment for viticulture. This ancient landscape of rolling hills, small woodlands, and hedgerows creates a patchwork of microclimates, while the well-drained sandstone and clay soils offer excellent growing conditions. The proximity to Nymans Woods adds natural beauty and biodiversity to the estate, creating an ecosystem that benefits both vines and visitors.

Bacchus has become the vineyard's signature variety, producing aromatic white wines with the elderflower and citrus notes that have made this grape a hallmark of English wine. Pinot Noir provides the foundation for both rosé and future red wine production, ensuring Dillions will offer a diverse portfolio as the vines mature.
