About Eglantine Vineyard
Eglantine Vineyard stands as one of England's most established wine estates, founded by Tony and Veronica Skuriat in June 1979. Located in South Nottinghamshire, this 4.5-acre vineyard has been producing wines and mead for over four decades, making it a true pioneer of the English wine renaissance.
Eglantine Vineyard: Site and Grape Varieties
What makes Eglantine truly remarkable is the diversity of their plantings. The vineyard maintains over 200 grape varieties, creating a living library of viticulture. However, wine is made from a focused selection of six varieties: Madeleine Angevine, Pinot Noir, Regent, Chardonnay, Seyval Blanc, and Pinot Meunier.
The vineyard extends from the Skuriats' home to the front garden, with a purpose-built winery on site for complete production control. This family affair produces a comprehensive range including still whites, sparkling whites, still and sparkling rosés, still reds, and vegan-friendly options.
Their beekeeping tradition adds another dimension, producing meads that complement their wine range. The combination of viticulture and apiculture reflects the estate's connection to traditional English rural crafts while embracing modern winemaking techniques.
Eglantine is located conveniently between the M1 and A46, making it accessible for visitors seeking to explore one of the East Midlands' most historic vineyards. Their commitment to education and hospitality has made them influential in developing interest in English wine throughout the region.
