About Furleigh Estate
Furleigh Estate sprawls across 85 acres of vineyard, lakes, and grazing land surrounded by woodland in West Dorset's rolling hills, within striking distance of the spectacular Jurassic Coast. Four years of careful planning transformed this former dairy farm into one of England's most accomplished sparkling wine producers.
Furleigh Estate: Site and Grape Varieties
The vineyard focuses on the classic Champagne varieties - Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier - alongside Bacchus for aromatic still wines. Their state-of-the-art winery enables complete production control, producing approximately 40,000 bottles of sparkling wine and 10,000 bottles of still wines annually, all from estate-grown grapes.
Furleigh's sparkling wines have earned widespread acclaim. Their Classic Cuvée displays elegant floral aromas of acacia, elderflower, and citrus blossom alongside Sicilian lemon notes and chalky minerality. All wines are vegan-friendly, reflecting their commitment to accessible, quality winemaking.
The estate teems with wildlife: buzzards circle overhead, deer roam the vineyard, pheasants and partridge patrol the rows, while herons fish from the lakes to which resident geese return each spring. This biodiversity creates a vineyard experience that connects visitors with the natural world.
Tours run from Easter to October, with the Summer Vineyard and Winery Grand Tour celebrating the estate's warm-weather beauty. Visitors explore the state-of-the-art winery, learn how still and sparkling wines are crafted, and taste wines that demonstrate why Dorset has emerged as a premier English wine region.
