Lily Farm Vineyard

Lily Farm Vineyard is a small family-run operation near Budleigh Salterton in Devon, producing award-winning world-class still and sparkling wines exclusively from grapes grown on site. Proprietors Alan and Faye Pratt have worked this land since 1992, and their journey into wine began in 2004 after stumbling across English wine and recognising the potential of a difficult, underutilised area of their holding.

Situated in a vale at Knowle, surrounded by beautiful countryside yet within walking distance of Budleigh Salterton, the vineyard grows on sandstone slopes approximately 40-50 metres above sea level. The vines flourish in their south-west facing position, part of the East Devon National Landscape and close to the historic Jurassic Coastline - England's first natural World Heritage Site.

After extensive research, 200 Rondo vines were planted into the well-drained sandy loam soil in 2005 to produce red wine. The vineyard made headlines with a UK record early harvest on 4 September 2007, and the resulting wine earned Lily Farm's first industry award - 'Best Red Wine From A Small Producer' at the 2009 South West Vineyards Association Awards.

Fully immersed in their new way of life, Alan and Faye expanded with another 200 Rondo vines in 2007 and enrolled at Plumpton College to study viticulture and oenology, attending every vineyard and wine course available through Wineskills and the UK Vineyards Association. This dedication to learning has underpinned the vineyard's continued success.

The current range includes Jurassic Red, white wines including Bacchus and Coastal Dry, rosé, and sparkling wines. Awards continue to recognise the quality achieved, with the wines available through the online shop for delivery throughout mainland UK.
