About Oxney Organic Estate
Oxney Organic Estate has established itself as the leading single-estate producer of English organic wine, quietly concentrating efforts on nurturing grapes in their Soil Association certified vineyard in East Sussex and transforming them into beautifully expressive sparkling and still wines. The results, they note with justified pride, speak for themselves.
The estate was established in 2012 along the Rother river valley, spanning both East Sussex and Kent. Plantings of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier, and Seyval Blanc thrive across 14 hectares of certified organic land. The winery occupies a lovely converted oasthouse where, after an exceptional 2014 summer, they produced their first wines. Today, the range includes still white, sparkling white, and still rosé wines, all organic and vegan-friendly.
Visiting and Staying at Oxney Organic Estate
Oxney opens its vineyard and winery for guided tours and tastings from Tuesday to Saturday, plus drop-in wine flights. Visitors can see firsthand how the estate is spearheading quality English organic wine, with opportunities to stay for cheese and charcuterie boards after tasting. The commitment to organic principles extends throughout every aspect of production, from vineyard management to bottling.
For those wishing to experience the Oxney terroir more fully, accommodation is available across the estate. The Jacobean house and cosy shepherd's huts sit within the vineyard itself, while The Oxney Barns at nearby Stone Cum Ebony, comprising The Old Barn, The Long Barn, and The Little Barn, offer additional options. In total, the estate can accommodate 28 guests, making it ideal for groups seeking an immersive English wine country experience.
